Corrosion Resistance
Good corrosion resistance in atmosphere and water, even in marine environment. Corrosion resistance of 6xxx series alloy is usually slighlty lower than 1xxx and 5xxx series. Intergranular corrosion in aggressive environments due to the allowed copper content can be reduced by means of suitable heat treatments. They are subjected to pitting corrosion in presence of chlorides.
